Cataloging is an essential step to ease the process of finding resources on our website. For that reason, we need to establish some reasons for rejection regarding the catalog icon process. This will guide our contributors on how to tag icons properly so that their content can be easily located and the number of downloads increased.
The main tag doesn’t define the icon
Non-related or irrelevant tags
Tags don’t describe the general theme of the pack
Tags have to be written in proper English
Tags describing color, styles or strokes are not allowed
The main tag doesn’t define the icon
The main tag has to properly describe the icon. It has to be precise. This keyword will serve as the icon title when cataloging it.
In the example below, the correct keyword would be “book”. “Education” wouldn't be the first choice as it makes reference to the concept (even if its somehow related to the icon).
The main tag has to be “book”.
INCORRECT: education, study, library, reading, literature, book
CORRECT: book, study, library, education, reading, literature
Non-related or irrelevant tags
Tags are not related to the icon’s theme or they are irrelevant. It’s important that tags are connected to the idea or concept the icon represents. Tags help to reach the largest number of searches; however, they must be relevant.
In the example below these tags: “pound”, “sterling”, “dollar”, “yen” and “house” have nothing to do with the icon.
INCORRECT: euro, money, economy, coin, pound sterling, dollar, yen, house
CORRECT: euro, money, economy, coin
Tags don’t describe the general theme of the pack
When cataloging a pack, tags have to be related to the concept or general theme of the pack.
INCORRECT: Economy, business, social network, facebook, like, people
CORRECT: Economy, business, finance, statistics, profit
Tags have to be written in proper English
Write tags in proper English, so the system retrieves them.
The system only recognizes and retrieves tags in English. So, make sure you don't make mistakes or write tags in another language.
INCORRECT: gun, weapong, pristol, hangun
CORRECT: gun, weapon, pistol, handgun
